Disney did it because of lawsuits. WT won't be sued by the bearded among them.

Disney lifts beard ban. When will WTS?
by doinmypart indisney has finally lifted their 55-year beard ban.
in conversations, an elder/relative would use disney as an example of a business that prohibited beards to help justify the wts anti-beard stance.
i wonder if the wts will ever lift their beard ban in the u.s. and other places.. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/24/disney-lifts-beard-ban-workers?newsfeed=true.

My 18-yr old college freshman nephew has just been cut off for leaving the JWs...
by Alfred ini spoke about him in a previous thread... he's the nicest kid you'll ever meet... smart, humble, shows respect and is very kind to everyone around him... except for one minor thing... you guessed it... he no longer believes in the jw religion.
also, he feels it is simply a place for hopeless people to gather and give each other moral support without actually doing anything productive to better their lives... i won't get into the details on how he arrived at this conclusion... suffice to say, he did not want to be a part of this crowd any longer.. incredibly, when he was a lot younger, he was able to convince his jw father (a po) and his jw mother (my sister) that they should let him go to college when he turns 18 (and help him pay for it!!!).
so they started putting some money away and my nephew has been in college since september!.

I hate to break it toyou but its a small percentage of parents who save for their kid's college education. Though that's a nice thing to do it shouldn't be his only means of support in the venture. He needs to be proactive in getting financial aide and work. It's not easy but most people find thier future jobs by means of that route. Good luck with the journey grasshopper!

it depends on if you have something that they want. It wown't be you, just what you have to offer. If you are a plumber or electrician or are somewhat wealthy there will be one who will like you. They are like anyone else, prone to selfishness and the like. Most will follow the party-line in spirit but do what it takes to get what they want. They are a bunch of users.

Which generation do you belong to ?
by edmond dantes inask a witness which generation do you belong to and see if they really know how to answer.. i have decided that every time i hear a true definition of the meaning of a generation i will post it here just to reinforce the true meaning just in case a stray jw happens to look in on here.. yesterday evening i was watching an antiques programme on the television and under discussion was a very well made baby high chair from about the nineteen thirties and the approximate date of manufacture and the length of time it had been in the family.
the expert then went on to confim how old it was and in doing so said that considering who first purchased the chair and the length of a generation that it was from the thirties and went on to say that we consider a generation to be about 25 years.. that is a truer definition of a generation than a watchtower definition.. .

Did Jesus sacrifice really mean anything?
by highdose insuspending for a minute the realisation that it never happened and instead looking at it as a beliver would.... jesus had to endure a painful death, yes.
but he knew that he would only be dead for three days and that afterwards he would get reserected and be able to mind f**k around with those who had put him to death.
and then he would live for ever in a brand new body!

I think if he comes out of his tomb and sees his shadow we get another month of winter, something like that.

Gave 5 JW's Something to Think About at a Starbucks Today
by flipper ini was having coffee at a starbucks located in a supermarket chain in one of the towns i work in my business .
while sitting there doing paperwork , what looked like 3 elders on their field service break sat at a table no more than 4 feet from me .
after eavesdropping it was obvious they were elders as they were talking about the c.o.

You never know. Many know in their hearts that shunning is inhuman but can't make the disconnect. Perhaps the simple attempt to draw attention to how wrong the "go to your room" analogy is may have a chisel effect on the ediface of ignorance. Keep it up.

I don't see Jesus. I see some slow motion hip hop preacher. If there's a man between you and God speaking for God you have religion. He doesn't see that by opening his mouth he's a de facto religion. For this reason I don't care to hear preaching from anyone who has a "personal relationship" with Jesus. Just more fundy poop.

SMART phones: I got my first iPhone
by Terry infor my birthday, my daughter (who works for apple) got me an iphone.. yes, i was using an old motorola flip-phone until now...like a geriatric captain kirk.. and i wondered why people had been giving me those strange looks before.... .
anyway, imagine my reaction to the mammoth technology contained in an iphone.. talk about a miracle, this qualifies.. i'm particularly impressed by the onboard gps.
i can type in a destination and the phone already knows exactly where i am and will plot a destination map onscreen.

I've got a 3G handmedown and I'm in love with it. I'm always a little behind but I don't care. This thing is a gas. I use the card from my gophone in it and prepay for three months at a time. I use the wifi for the net and there's enough free wifi these days I don't need a data plan. Too funny. Love Words with friends though its making me insane....
